And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, “Do you see these (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
