The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
