The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
