The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 And the Book written 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
