The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
