Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the One Wrapped in piety! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
