The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
