The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 you pay attention 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
