Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
