The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
