Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. 1 His wealth did not avail him, nor his acquisitions. 2 He will be burnt in a Fire of blazing flames! 3 And so will his wife; carrying a bundle of firewood on her head. 4 with a rope of twisted fibre round her neck. 5

True are the words of God the Almighty.
