The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
