The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 One early morning Our torment brought upon them utter destruction. 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
