The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
