The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
