Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
