Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 "His plan is to get you out of your land: then what is it ye counsel?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and utterly humiliated. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 Pharaoh said: 'What! Do you believe before you have my permission? Surely this is a plot you have contrived to drive out the rulers from the capital. So you shall see, 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
