Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
