The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
