The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
