Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set forth 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
