The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
