Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya 'Ayn Sad. 1 A mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zakariya. 2 when he called upon his Lord secretly 3 "Lord, my bones have weakened and my head has turned hoary with age, but never, Lord, have I been disappointed in my prayer to you: 4 "Now I fear (what) my relatives (and colleagues) (will do) after me: but my wife is barren: so give me an heir as from Thyself,- 5 who will be my heir and an heir to the House of Jacob, and make him, my Lord, satisfied' 6 “O Zakaria! We give you the glad tidings of a son whose name is Yahya (John) – before him, We have not created anyone of this name.” 7 He said, 'O my Lord, how shall I have a son, seeing my wife is barren, and I have attained to the declining of old age?' 8 He said: So shall it be, your Lord says: It is easy to Me, and indeed I created you before, when you were nothing. 9 He said: My Lord! give me a sign. He said: Your sign is that you will not be able to speak to the people three nights while in sound health. 10 So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon. 11 (We said): 'O John, hold fast to the Book', and We bestowed on him judgment while yet a child 12 And piety (for all creatures) as from Us, and purity: He was devout, 13 and cherishing his parents, not arrogant, rebellious. 14 Peace on him the day he was born, and the day he dieth and the day he shall be raised alive! 15
