We also favored Moses and Aaron 114 and We saved them and their people from the awesome calamity [of bondage,] 115 And We helped them, so that they were the victors; 116 And We gave them the divine writ that made [right and wrong] distinct, 117 And guided them to the Straight Path. 118 and perpetuated their praise in later generations. 119 Peace be on Musa and Haroun. 120 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 121 They were two of Our believing servants. 122 And verily, Iliyas (Elias) was one of the Messengers. 123 (Call to mind) when he said to his people: “Will you not fear Allah? 124 Do you call on Ba'lan (the idol Baal) and abandon the Best Creator, 125 God, your Lord, and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients?' 126 but they rejected him, and thus will certainly be called to account; 127 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 128 And We perpetuated to him (praise) among the later generations. 129 "Peace be upon Elijah and his followers!" 130 Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers, who perform good deeds totally for Allah's sake only - see V. 2:112). 131 he was among Our believing servants. 132 And lo! Lot verily was of those sent (to warn). 133 We rescued him and his whole family, 134 Except an old woman who was one of those who stayed behind. 135 Then We destroyed the others. 136 You pass by (their ruined town) in the morning 137 And by night: will ye not understand? 138
