Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection); 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 Thamud, 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
