The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
