The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 purify your garments; 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
