The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
