The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
