Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
