The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
