The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and gently take it away; 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and gathered his people together 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
