And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]." 77 So Firaun went after them with his army – therefore the sea enveloped them, the way it did. 78 And Fir'awn led his nation astray, and guided them not. 79 O ye Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We made a Covenant with you on the right side of Mount (Sinai), and We sent down to you Manna and quails: 80 (Saying): "Eat of the good things We have provided for your sustenance, but commit no excess therein, lest My Wrath should justly descend on you: and those on whom descends My Wrath do perish indeed! 81 But I am indeed Most Forgiving to him who repents and believes and does righteous works and keeps to the Right Way." 82 ۞ And what caused you to hasten from your people, O Musa? 83 He said: "They are right behind me. I have hastened to You, O Lord, so that You may be pleased." 84 The Lord said, "We tested your people after you left them and the Samiri made them go astray." 85 Moses returned to his people full of wrath and grief, and said: "My people! Has your Lord not made good an excellent promise He made to you? And has a long time passed since those promises were fulfilled? Or was it to incur the wrath of your Lord that you broke your promise with me?" 86 They answered: "We did not break our promise with you out of our own volition; but we were laden with the load of people's ornaments, and we simply threw them down(into the fire), and the Samiri also threw down something, 87 Then he produced the image of a calf which mooed like a cow. And they said: 'This is your god and the god of Moses (whom) he has neglected." 88 So do they not see that it does not answer to any of their speech? And has no power to cause them any harm or benefit? 89
