And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
