He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
