Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
