Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
