The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
