Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets set, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
