The Sun (Al-Shams)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
