The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
