Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
