The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 none can avert that. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
