The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
