Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ O people, have fear of your Lord. The earthquake of the Hour shall be a great thing. 1 when that Day comes, every suckling mother shall forsake her infant and every pregnant woman shall cast her burden and everyone will appear intoxicated, although they are not: the punishment of God will be severe indeed. 2 And among people are some who argue concerning Allah without knowing, and blindly follow every rebellious devil. 3 Who, it is inscribed, will beguile whoever follows him, and lead him to the torment of Hell. 4 O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind. 5 This is because Allah is the Truth and because He gives life to the dead and because He has power over all things 6 And [know, O man] that the Last Hour is bound to come, beyond any doubt, and that God will [indeed] resurrect all who are in their graves. 7 Some dispute about Allah, though they have neither knowledge nor guidance, nor an illuminating Book. 8 Bending his neck, that he may lead astray from the way of Allah; his shall be humiliation in the world, and We shall make him taste on the Day of Judgment the torment of burning. 9 (It will be said): "This is because of the deeds which thy hands sent forth, for verily Allah is not unjust to His servants. 10
