And it is not your riches nor your children that shall draw you nigh unto us with a near approach, but whosoever believeth and worketh righteously - then those! theirs shall be a twofold meed for that which they will have worked, and they will be in upper apartments secure. 37 whereas all who strive against Our messages, seeking to defeat their purpose, shall be given over to suffering. 38 Say, "It is my Lord who determines and increases the sustenance of whomever He wants. He will replace whatever you spend for His cause and He is the best Sustainer." 39 And on the day when He will raise them all, and then say to the angels, “Did they worship you?” 40 They will say, “Purity is to you – only you are our Supporter, not they; in fact they worshipped the jinns; most of them believed only in them.” 41 So Today (i.e. the Day of Resurrection), none of you can profit or harm one another. And We shall say to those who did wrong [i.e. worshipped others (like angels, jinns, prophets, saints, righteous persons, etc.) along with Allah]: "Taste the torment of the Fire which you used to belie. 42 And when our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, they say, "This is not but a man who wishes to avert you from that which your fathers were worshipping." And they say, "This is not except a lie invented." And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is not but obvious magic." 43 We had not given them books to study, nor have We sent them a warner before you. 44 Those before them denied, and these have not attained a tithe of that which We bestowed on them (of old); yet they denied My messengers. How intense then was My abhorrence (of them)! 45
