A Sign for them is the earth that is dead: We do give it life, and produce grain therefrom, of which ye do eat. 33 And We have placed in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made springs of water in it. 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof; and their hands worked it not. Will they not, therefore, give thanks? 35 Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. 36 A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 Another sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark. 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 and [that,] if such be Our will, We may cause them to drown, with none to respond to their cry for help: and [then] they cannot be saved, 43 Unless by mercy from Us, and as a comfort for a while. 44 When they are told, "guard yourselves against what is before you and what is behind you, in order that you may be shown mercy," [they turn away]. 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 The Truth is that they are waiting for nothing but a mighty Blast to seize them the while they are disputing (in their worldly affairs), 49 then they will not be able to make any testament, nor will they return to their people. 50
