Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
