The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
