The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
